The
K/O Lodge is located about 6 miles from the beautiful town of Deep
River. Deep River itself is located along the shore of the Ottawa
River. Across the river (about one mile) from Deep River is the
province of Quebec. The Quebec side of the river is completely
undeveloped and has no roads, building or hydro lines, just unspoiled
wilderness. Our area has four river systems running through it:
the Ottawa River, the Chalk River, Petawawa River and the Barron River.
Our nation's capital is only a two hour drive from the lodge and offers
virtually unlimited shopping and attractions.
Deep River has a
beautiful 9 hole golf course, which guests are welcome to enjoy while
staying at the K/O Lodge.
While traveling through Deep River on your way up to the lodge, the golf
course will be on the right side of the highway so be sure to have a
quick peek on your way by.
For guests wishing to pick up a few things while they
are up here, Deep
River and area has over 40 business to serve you. Along with the
usual stores you would find in a small town, we have several antique,
craft and gift stores with many surprising and unique items.
For any guests
that may have health issues or concerns, the Deep River hospital is the
envy of the Ottawa Valley and they are sure to take care of any medical
problem that could possibly arise. In an emergency, a guest at the
lodge could be at the hospital in under 10 minutes.
The lodge itself is cradled between the Ottawa River and the world
famous Algonquin Park which is a 3050 square mile expanse of wilderness.
It is home to large populations of deer, moose and black bears.
There is nothing between the lodge and the park but wilderness and
unless you know where you are, it can be difficult to tell if you are in
the park or not (after all, the lakes and trees look the same inside the
park as outside).
When you look at
a map of our area, the first thing you'll notice is water everywhere!
There are about 75 lakes and four river systems within an hours
traveling distance of the lodge. These range in size from dozens
of square miles for Holden Lake and our section of the Ottawa River to
less than a hundred acres for many of the back lakes. We also
offer a wide range of fish to pursue. Walleye, Saugers, Pike,
Muskellunge, Small Mouth Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Sturgeon, Channel Cats,
Gar, Perch, Pumpkinseeds and Blue Gills are all waiting to take your
line.
